Digital Chamber Urges Kamala Harris to Embrace Pro-Crypto Policies
Changing the perspective
The Digital Chamber addressed Vice President Kamala Harris in a letter, urging her to adopt a forward-looking approach to digital assets and blockchain technology. The Chamber emphasized the transformative benefits of these technologies for innovation, economic growth, and financial inclusion.
The Chamber highlighted the public perception that the Democratic Party is anti-crypto due to the Biden/Harris Administration’s cautious approach towards digital assets. Despite support from key Democratic leaders like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, the viewpoint has gained traction.
The letter emphasized that over 50 million Americans have embraced digital assets, viewing them as a way to democratize finance, foster innovation, and create economic opportunities. It pointed out the higher adoption rates of digital assets among Black, Latino Americans, and immigrant communities.
Revolutionary tools
The Chamber asserted that digital assets and blockchain technology can enhance transparency, reduce fraud, and create a more inclusive financial system. It urged the Democratic Party to champion these innovations to reaffirm US leadership in the global digital economy.
The trade body stressed the importance of the Democratic Party’s platform reflecting the potential benefits of digital assets and blockchain technology. It recommended that Harris advocate for including pro-digital asset language in the party’s platform.
The Chamber also suggested that Harris choose a vice-presidential candidate with expertise in digital asset policy, such as Colorado Governor Jared Polis. The letter called for dialogue with industry leaders to craft policies that support growth, consumer protection, and financial stability in the digital asset and blockchain sector.
